What is Slax ?
Slax is a Live OS based on Linux. You can run it from USB pendrive or CD/DVD. The best thing is, you don't need to install it. All you have to do is just plug your device in and boot from it. You can use your pendrive as normal one, because all files related to slax stored in a single directory /slax on your device. Which makes it easy to organize with your other data.
By default, there will be few pre-installed applications. Such as, Chromium (web browser), xterm (terminal application), leafpad (text-editor), qalculate (calculator).
If you boot Slax from a read-only device (such as CD-ROM) the changes will not be saved as it will keep all the modification in memory only. But if you run it using any USB device which writable device, then all your modifications will be saved. Hence all your configuration and modifications will be restored next time you boot. That's why Slax has Persistent changes feature.
You can have a Slax iso for 32-bit as well as 64-bit. You can download ISO image from https://www.slax.org/
